Last updated: 23 October 2026. This notice describes local data, sign-in, subscriptions, and optional cloud backup for Chess Tournament Manager Pro. The developer and contact for app-related privacy requests is Daniel Milano, operating as Bottega del software: bottega.software@gmail.com.
Sign-in
Google or Apple authenticates you through your browser, using Firebase Authentication. Account identifiers and available profile information, such as name and email, identify your app account. The app processes your account identifier, email address, display name and profile photo URL when supplied by the provider. On macOS, session information is stored encrypted on your computer with an encryption key in Keychain to keep you signed in between launches. The current Windows implementation keeps the session in memory for the running app. Your Google or Apple password is handled by the sign-in provider, not entered into the desktop app.
Local tournament data
Tournament and player information is stored locally on your computer. It may include names, ratings, teams, pairings, results, standings, tournament history and app preferences. Signing in does not automatically upload or restore your tournament archive. You control the tournament information you export or share.
Optional cloud backup and restore
Backup and restore are started manually from the Account section and may require sign-in and an active premium entitlement. The app opens your browser to request authorization from the selected cloud provider.
For Google Drive, the app requests access to its own application data folder to find, read, create and replace backups associated with your app account. This permission does not grant access to your ordinary Drive documents. For Apple, the app uses a private CloudKit/iCloud database. Access to iCloud requires separate authorization and may involve a different account from Sign in with Apple.
Backups contain tournament and player data, including names, ratings, teams, rounds, results and preferences, together with metadata such as the app account identifier, file name, creation date, app version, source platform and backup format version. We use this information to store your backup, identify the correct account and restore compatible data.
During a requested operation, the desktop app and its browser bridge process the backup in memory and transfer it to or from Google or Apple over HTTPS. Cloud authorization tokens are used in the browser during the operation; the desktop app does not save those cloud tokens as part of the backup. Restored data is then saved in the app's local database.
Retention and your choices
Local tournament data remains on your computer until you delete it or remove the app's stored data. Uninstalling the desktop application may leave its data files behind. Signing out does not delete tournaments or cloud backups.
Cloud backups remain in your Google Drive application data storage or private iCloud database until replaced or deleted. You can avoid cloud processing by not using backup and restore, and manage or revoke access through your provider's account controls. Revoking access does not itself erase an existing backup.
For deletion of app-account information or assistance with stored backups, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your account ownership. Provider records and billing information may be retained under the providers' policies and applicable legal requirements.
Subscription access and billing
Your signed-in account identifier is supplied to RevenueCat to associate purchases and subscription status with your app account. Paddle, as Merchant of Record for desktop purchases, collects the billing and payment information you enter at checkout and handles transactions, tax, fraud prevention and refund requests. Your billing email may differ from your sign-in email.
Service providers
These services process data according to their roles and policies: Google and Firebase, Apple, RevenueCat, and Paddle. Their services may process information in countries other than your own.
Support and privacy requests
If you email us, we use the information you provide to respond to your request. You can contact us to request access, correction or deletion of app-account information, subject to applicable law. We retain support correspondence as needed to handle your request and meet applicable legal obligations. Some transaction records may need to be retained by billing providers for legal obligations. Account deletion and subscription cancellation are separate: cancel recurring billing using the instructions on our cancellation page.
Security
We use technical measures to protect account and backup transfers, but no transmission or storage system is completely secure.
Mobile apps
The existing mobile privacy policy continues to cover the Android and iOS apps. This desktop notice does not change their store payment flows.
